(Note from the boss man: We've decided to let Gianni the Intern write the intro this week. We apologize in advance.)
Hallo friends of Sonic Odyssey! It is with great excitement and extreme honor that I, Gianni Oberhausen, have been chosen to write this week's Week in Review introduction. After much reflection, I believe this opportunity was given to me because of my keen editorial insight — or as we say in Germany, my Redaktionsmeisterkraft (Editorial Master Power). [1]
This week, I have selected only the finest news, trends, and sonic developments for your enjoyment. I have worked very hard, double-checking everything (sometimes even triple-checking, because this is serious journalism). I hope you enjoy my curation and recognize the historic moment that is happening right now: Gianni’s First Official Week in Review Introduction.
Onward, to glory and tasteful blogging! ✨

And while you're here — keep an eye out for our upcoming guide, How to Choose the Right Audio Interface for Your Needs. It's basically a Tolstoy-length epic about buying interfaces, because apparently I don't know how to do "short" when it comes to helping you make smart decisions. Drops May 9th.
And if that wasn't enough impending chaos, we've also got a new article hitting on April 30th: Hardware Synths for Guitarists. If you've ever looked at a synth and thought "what if I just hit it really hard with six strings of fury?" — this one's for you.
That's a wrap for this week's roundup.
Thanks for hanging out with us and a special thanks to Gianni the Intern for believing his "editorial master power" is what got him promoted this week. (We're letting him think that. For now.)
We'll see you next week — same Odyssey time, same Odyssey channel. 🎼
Jesus fucking Christ. I did not choose Gianni for his "Redaktionsmeisterkraft." I'm busy trying to fix my Avalon 737 because Gianni decided to hardwire a modded C64 in it. Someone on a producer Discord said SID synthesis sounds cool. [10] ↩︎
I have FEELINGS about this. Of course Back in Black is #1 — one of the biggest selling albums ever. Not every song's a winner, but when it hits, goddamn, it hits. Highway to Hell needs to be #2... ANY album with "Touch Too Much" outranks pretty much anything else. I also looked at AC/DC's discog over at RateYourMusic and goddamn does the internet not think highly of AC/DC's output. ↩︎
I'm a nerd for these legacy analog brands. I don't care if I have enough pres, am out of rack room and have no use for it... PUT IT DIRECTLY INTO MY VEINS YOU BEAUTIFUL BRITISH BASTARDS. ↩︎
I have little doubt somebody will chime in about Behringer 'democratizing gear.' No guys, they're cutting corners to increase profit margins. ↩︎
I can't imagine this is going to go well, which sucks. I'm going to search for '1968 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty' and get shown a list of Squier Mustangs. We need more competitors in this space. ↩︎
Now THIS is something I have room for. The price is really good, too. I just wish it was in a proper rack format rather than a desktop unit. ↩︎
Neural is such a weird fucking company. It seemed half-baked on release, and it was extra cringe watching geartubers fall over themselves to be all ZOMG about it. ↩︎
You did. It's fine. We still love you. So long as you use a DI box. ↩︎
unlike that fifth plugin bundle you impulse bought. 🤦🏼♂️ ↩︎
Don't even get me started on what Gianni thought "SID" means. ↩︎
